The historical University Bridges, located in the heart of the city, opposite the main building of the University of Wrocław, constitute one of the most characteristic landmarks of the urban landscape in the capital of Lower Silesia. The picturesque riverside area connects the two banks of the Oder River, but also history with everyday life, and, more recently, the city with its residents.

During the extensive renovation, a concept emerged to breathe new life into the bridges and emphasise their role in the urban landscape. The concept of RGBW lighting, proposed by LUG Light Factory, was well received, and as a result, the bridges gained a new visual identity – they became an attractive feature of Wrocław's urban fabric, communicating with the city's residents.

Challenges:

•    The structure and type of the facility required a precise, repeatedly consulted lighting design to ensure the full integrity of the installation

•    The specific nature of the bridge also required the luminaires to be adapted to non-standard installation conditions, ensuring their safe mounting

•    All work had to be coordinated at many stages and levels of cooperation in order to maintain full consistency between all parties involved

Solutions:

•    Custom mounting brackets were used to securely and harmoniously place the luminaires on the bridge structure

•    Innovative 4-in-1 RGBW luminaires were used, allowing for complete freedom in colour configuration

•    The installation was based on a custom-designed DMX control system that allows for the setting of dedicated lighting scenes tailored to city events
