A2 Highway ŚWIECKO-KONIN

Lighting modernization with the integration of a dynamic control system.

Every project starts with a need.
In this case, from a specific technical challenge – replacement of
sodium to LED lighting.

The outcome?

Far exceeding the expectations.
Below are the numbers that prove the effectiveness  and show that technology can realistically change everyday life

Technology in service of decarbonization– modernization of the A2 Highway

It was a very complex project. (...) We achieved significant energy savings and designed a proprietary dynamic control system, delivering a new quality of lighting system. (...) For me, this project was a wonderful challenge where I could use my many years of experience.

financing in the LaaS mode

The A2 Highway connecting Berlin with Warsaw stands as a crucial communication artery connecting the western and eastern borders of Poland. Its strategic importance for international transportation necessitates the application of the highest quality standards, especially in terms of lighting
Thanks to the synergy of the LUG Group:

  • LUG Light Factory
  • ESCOlight
  • BIOT

the project was carried out in the Lighting as a Service (LaaS) model, which provided adequate financial resources and a dynamic, high-quality, remote-controlled lighting system.

CHALLENGE

  • Adaptation of luminaires and designs  to diverse infrastructure spaces, such as Passenger Service Points, Toll Booths, Road Junctions or Motorway Maintenance Circuits,
  • Replacement of luminaires on a 255-kilometre stretch of a highway – without stopping traffic and without interruptions in the operation of lighting,
  • Integration of the lighting control system with the system measuring traffic on the highway in real time.

SOLUTIONS

  • LUG infrastructure luminaires characterized by effective, optimal lighting, high resistance to weather conditions and long lifetime,
  • Full financing and support for the implementation of the investment process by ESCOlight, including service for the duration of the agreement,
  • The URBAN control system from BIoT Company, which allows for dynamic management of light intensity depending on traffic.

Thanks to the use of energy-efficient LED luminaires, it was possible to achieve as much as 65% savings in electricity consumption. An additional 15% was ensured by intelligent light intensity management through the URBAN management system. As a result, the total reduction of the carbon footprint was 80%, which translates into a reduction in CO₂ emissions by 2905 tons per year. It should be emphasized that financing in the LaaS model allows the client to repay the investment in the form of a subscription, without the need to incur capital costs

RESULT

80%  annual energy savings

80% carbon footprint reduction

2 905 t CO₂ reduction

GUARANTEE of savings  on 10-year contract
